Karalius Mindaugas Vocational Training Centre is famous for training specialists in the area of beauty and health. Aiming to further strengthen the teaching process in the field of beauty, the implementation of Erasmus+ project Innovative Teaching and Learning Practices in Beauty Sector professions, INLESSON has been started. (No. 2019-1-LT01-KA202-060758).

“Contemporary vocational training is inseparable from innovative teaching methods and modern teaching/ learning tools. Their application helps to create an attractive teaching environment, promotes qualitative cooperation between a teacher and a learner. This project aims to strengthen the teaching/ learning process of two professions – a beautician and hairdresser. The project was born out of a need expressed by learners and teachers themselves in a SELFIE survey organized at the beginning of the year. One of the needs of the students was a wider application of digital technologies in the teaching and learning process,” claims Ms. Gintarė Lisauskaitė, INLESSON project manager.
The kick-off meeting of the project partners was held at the Modus Practical Training Center of King Mindaugas VTC in the Hairdressing, Beauty and Related Service Sector on November 7-8, 2019. Guests from Katholiek Onderwijs Vlaanderen (Belgium), Centrum voor Volwassenenonderwijs DTL (Belgium), Escola Profissional do Minho (Portugal), Action Synergy (Greece) participated there. The guests were welcomed and the activities of King Mindaugas VTC were presented by Director Nora Pileičikienė (PhD). “We are focused on technological change and strive to create favourable conditions for our students and teachers to take a full advantage of all the opportunities that open up. This project will enrich the teaching environment with digital learning materials, which will promote students’ motivation to learn independently and innovatively,” said Director N. Pileičikienė, who shared the importance of the project expecting excellent results.

The INLESSON project will develop digital training materials based on hybrid learning methods for students of the beautician and hairdresser training programmes. Efforts will be made to provide vocational teachers with the necessary knowledge on how to create digital learning materials, ultimately focusing on methodologies for organisation of hybrid training in the Beauty Sector.
36 vocational teachers in the Beauty Sector from 3 countries will participate in the training activities, thus improving the digital and pedagogical competences of vocational teachers. The digital learning material will be developed for 6 modules intended for the future hairdressers and beauticians; it will be tested by at least 200 students and evaluated by 18 experts from 3 countries. The project will increase the professionalism of vocational teachers to make the teaching process more innovative and attractive. During the meeting, it will be planned for which modules the digital material will be created for and further project work will be discussed as well.
